Advertisement Analysis
the denotations are the fact that the boy does not look really enthusiastic. he looks serious yet ,pleading. staring at the camera, with a rocky background while sitting on a chair. The background is slightly blurred.
This can connote that he is poor or unable to afford correct and proper hygiene. The blurred background can perhaps connote that they want the audience to focus on the kids and not the surrounding
The slogan "Dig toilets not graves" can show that people want less graves to be made and more areas of hygiene to be made in replace of it. Perhaps to lower yearly death rates and increase hygiene rates.
In this advert for WaterAid, The slogan "Dig toilets not graves", connotes that people are dying due to dirty and unhygienic water and surroundings. The boy connotes innocence and naivety. This is effective because as it allows the consumers to understand the situation and know there are people and kids out there dying to little to no hygiene and lack of nutrients. The use of a child can be seen as a marketing strategy as people are more likely to sympathises with a young child resulting with more income coming in for the charity.
The woman looks happy as she is smiling while staring at the camera. she is wearing blue Demin style clothes wearing white platformed heels
In this advert there is a woman wearing mostly Demin style clothing, and a discounted price of 50% off. The colour blue, often has positive connotations of trust and confidence. This is effective because it allows the buyer to know that they are a trustworthy company and that they are confident in the quality of their clothing and products they sell.
